Anthony Natale is owner/president of Anthony's Pizza and Italian restaurant on King St in Malvern.  Anthony and I have had some great conversations about our town, our families, and his continued expansion of the restaurant. Each time I see him, he stops, waves and always has that welcoming smile along with a heartfelt hello. Today we sat down just before the staff broke bread together for a short chat.

Why Malvern?

Originally I had no Idea what Malvern was.  I was looking for a restaurant for 6 years, when one of the original Anthony's owners reached out to my dad who was also in the restaurant business. He mentioned it to me, so I brought my family in for a meal. My kids and my wife and I had a great time here. And the rest is history.

What is your favorite food?

A short rib ragu, with some homemade pasta!

How do you define success?

Balancing family life with business.  If you don't have one without the other it wouldn't work.

If you were traveling to Mars, and you could only bring one album, what would it be?

I listen to audio books! (laughter). I think knowledge is power, so I have the Audible App....Also, maybe 90's Hip Hop... Jay-Z

Who do you idolize?

I Idolize my parents for what they did through their life.  You see what your parents did, and you are happy you turned out like them.

Also, Vito- we spend a lot of time together!

Joe LeBresco Sr. is our new FacesofMavern feature.  Joe is a face many only see speeding by in Malvern's engine 4-5 during an emergency. The tanker truck is so much  a part of Joe that they officially dedicated the truck to him in 2013. At that point Joe had 60 years of service to the Malvern Fire Company. If you do the math, he is up to 62 years of volunteering!  I  have only been around Joe a few dozen times at meetings and such, but I do know that this humble and quiet man is a true man of service. , Thank you Joe for what you do for our borough.

facesofmalvern frank englund

Frank Englund from Englund's apparel is my new facesofMalvern subject.  Frank is synonymous with Malvern. He is truly one of the most friendly and inviting faces in town.  Frank has spent 51 years in Malvern operating his esteemed mens shop.  Many families are in their third generation shopping in Frank's store. In fact, my mother bought me the corduroy suit I wore in the 1978 GVHS fashion show, and I recently took my son there to get his latest interview suit.  Although he is not a big fan of the internet, this true gentleman said yes immediately when asked to participate in my project. This guy is still going a million miles a minute, making sure that everything is perfect in his store. We sat down (for just a minute) on one of the beautiful windsor chairs to talk to The Man.

Here are the answers to a few of my questions:

Q.Why Malvern?

A. While working in a store in Paoli, one of my customers asked me about opening a store in Malvern.  Now Malvern, then, they were riding horses down the street!  When I got here, the people were nice, and it has been working out for 51 years

Q. What is your favorite food?

A. Steak!

Q. How do you define Success?

A. work hard, work hard, WORK HARD!

A. Johnny Mathis

Q. Who do you idolize?

A. my high school basketball coach, Jack McClellan, West Chester High School
